This entire project is made possible by the generous and hard working nature of our wonderful partners!

Partners participating in this project are: the Association of Comadronas (midwives) of the Mam speaking area (ACAM); The International Mayan League/USA; and The Maya League of Guatemala. Partners also include midwives from the Midwives Alliance of North America and several Certified Nurse-Midwives. They have raised funds, collected material aid, and provided educational workshops and materials for ACAM. There is a commitment from North American midwives to do trainings and help develop systems of care until the ACAM midwives are able to do these things on their own. A small business owner from Massachusetts has made a personal financial commitment to the project since 2002 that continues.  Negotiations are underway with IMEC ( a US based charity) to fill a 40-foot container of used medical equipment and supplies, including dental equipment, to ship to Guatemala for the center and possibly the hospital in Quetzaltenango. A sponsor has been found for the initial IMEC project and additional containers could be arranged on an on-going basis.  An Ob-GYN in Guatemala has partnered as a weekly volunteer at the center and is committed to its success. Additional physicians and dentists will be recruited as the center grows. In addition the newly formed board will meet regularly to offer professional guidance and gather financial support to the project.
